Diving

Two scuba divers close against a coral reef, surrounded by black-and-white striped fish and one yellow-headed wrasse.

Dive into the Red Sea

The Red Sea is warm and exceptionally clear. That single fact is why people put a mask on here, and why they come back.

Water you can see through

Clarity changes what a day in the water is. Instead of feeling your way through a haze, you look down and the bottom is simply there — lit, legible, holding its colour further than you expect. Even a shallow float with a snorkel gives you something to look at, which is not true of most coastlines.

A day built around going under

A diving day has a rhythm of its own: an early start while the water is still glassy, the unhurried business of checking kit, then the drop — and the quiet that follows it, where the loudest thing is your own breathing. You come up hungry, sun-warmed and slightly detached from the rest of the day.
